From staff reports

A man was taken in critical condition to a Fort Wayne hospital Saturday night after he was shot, according to Fort Wayne Police. It is the fifth serious shooting on the city's southeast side in recent days and the third involving a vehicle.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was sitting with someone in a vehicle near the intersection of Reed and Fisher streets when someone armed with a handgun demanded money around 10:33 p.m., according to police. The assailant then shot the victim and ran off. The victim somehow made it to Pontiac and Lillie streets a few blocks away, where police and paramedics found him after being called. Police continue to look for a suspect.

The shooting follows others recently in the southeast. Kamilla Wallace, 20, was fatally shot early Jan. 30 at an underground club in the 2600 block of Central Drive near Pontiac Street. Her death resulted from a disturbance among a large group of women, according to police. Police have identified a person of interest in her death.

On Jan. 31, Michael A. Green, 32, died after being shot around 8:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of Reed Street. Police were called to a home where Green had fled for help after being shot as he was driving. Responders found him in extremely critical condition at the home, and he died shortly after arriving at Parkview Hospital.

On Jan. 27, Trenton T. Jones, 21, was fatally shot while allegedly trying to break into a home at 4730 Reed St. Jones was shot by the home's unidentified owner, who police said was awakened by the sounds of Jones and possible accomplices trying to enter the home.

On Friday, a man was shot in a car in the 4800 block of Holton Avenue. He was upgraded from critical to fair condition Saturday morning. Two people in ski masks approached his car and he was shot. Police were continuing to investigate.
